What we collect, and what we do with it
Short version: very little, for a short time, and only to answer you. The long version is below.
The detail, topic by topic
What the forms collect
There are two forms on this website: the booking form and the message form on the Getting to us page. The booking form asks for your name, email address, date, time, number of guests, a seating preference and a note. The message form asks for your name, email address and your message. We ask for nothing else, and certainly no payment details.
Young people
The long room and this website are for adults. We don't knowingly collect details from anyone under 18. If a young person has sent us a request by mistake, tell us and we'll delete it straight away. Kids can come to dinner with a parent, but the form's for the adult doing the booking.
How we look after it
Requests arrive in a locked inbox that only the host and the floor manager can open. Notes taken on the telephone go in a book that's shredded at the end of each week. Nothing is stored on personal devices, and nothing is left lying around in the foyer where a curious guest might read it.
Who to ask about your details
Write to the booking address, mentioning your details, and mark the message for the floor manager. A real person will reply, usually within two working days. If you'd rather talk, telephone during opening hours and ask for Angus.
Your rights
You can ask to see what we hold, to correct it, to delete it or to stop us contacting you. We'll answer within thirty days, and it won't cost you anything. We try to follow the Australian Privacy Principles in everything we do with personal information, and if you're unhappy, you can complain to the national privacy regulator.
Cookies and similar notes
The site keeps two small notes in your browser, one for your age check and one for your cookie choice. They're explained on the Cookie choices page, along with the map on the Getting to us page, which loads from an outside provider. The operator of the venue, named on The people here page and in the footer, is responsible for all of it.
Why we ask for an email address
We need it to reply. A name alone isn't enough to confirm a booking, and a telephone number is harder to leave unread than a message. We don't add it to any list, we don't write to you about anything else, and we don't pass it to anyone outside the Lounge.
How long we keep it
Booking requests are deleted three months after the date you asked for, and messages from the contact form are deleted once they've been answered and a reasonable time has passed. If you ask us to delete something sooner, we'll do it the same week.
If this page changes
If we ever change how we handle your details, we'll rewrite this page before the change takes effect. We don't keep older versions alive alongside it, so the page you're reading is the page that applies today.
